Cross River APC chairman must go – Stalwarts insist
According to a report published by Dailypost, calls for the resignation of Alphonsus Eba, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, have been reiterated by stakeholders and prominent backers of the party. They emphasize the need for Eba and his executive committee (exco) to step down immediately.
Despite mounting pressure for his removal, Eba and the exco reaffirmed his position as the chairman in a recent meeting, labeling him as the 'indisputable chairman.'
Chief Okoi Obono-Obla, a former presidential aide, echoed his opposition to Eba's removal, asserting that any action taken must adhere to the party's constitution rather than being carried out hastily.
Speaking on behalf of other party leaders, Chief Higgins Peters, formerly a supporter of Eba, has become a vocal advocate for his removal. Peters cited Eba's poor performance during the previous general election and subsequent reruns as the primary reasons behind their demand for his resignation.
In response to the mounting pressure, Eba confidently stated that not even substantial financial backing, such as from Peter Higgins, could force him out of office.
Higgins clarified that the call for Eba's resignation stemmed from widespread dissatisfaction with the overall performance of the party's exco, rather than personal animosity towards Eba. He emphasized that their demand for resignation applies to the entire exco, including Eba himself, as they have collectively failed in their duties.
